Last week I spent five hours speaking with 35-year homeless advocate and activist in Los Angeles, Ted Hayes Jr.. Ted is a tall, slender, sixty something, and as he would say it, Black American. He wore a relaxed fitting cotton shirt and pants, around his neck hung a Star of David and a star and striped scarf. He is often seen wearing an African style hat over his gray hair. His remarkably expressive face is dominated by his prominent beard. When you hear Ted speak, it becomes impossible to deny that the man has charisma.Read more
Recently heard at the DNC Convention in San Francisco;
"You’ve got to be ready to take a punch," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "And therefore, you have to be ready to throw a punch. For the children. Throw a punch for the children."
I would like to thank Nancy for her very sage advice which should be directed to those of us who support CaliforniaSchoolChoice.org, the proposed California initiative which will allow parents to take back the authority over their children’s education from the government by allowing them to enroll their precious children in the public, private or religious school of their choice while using their share of the state’s educational budget. It even provides accumulated dollars to be used for University or Vocational training. Under this proposed bill, competition will encourage innovation and improvement in our public-school systems.
